To embrace a topic, to engross myself in it, visually and aurally, is my creative approach, but the spontaneous and simple impact is the important stimulus. My notebooks are full of encounters of many kinds; some of them are followed up, others await being noticed, for some I will never have the time ...
And all the time many more are added.

As I am keen to paint and draw the primary idea in each discovery to the full, I find the cycle the best form for achieving this. This allows me to sense and flesh out my feelings. Now there is space - both in time - and objectively - for emotions.
In this way I gather situations and associate, gesticulate, interpret them in pictures. Curiosity, delight, gratefulness, patience accompany me. I sense them in the perfection of a colour harmony or a meticulous drawing. Recollections, meanings, movements, glances, textures, dew, swathes of mist, scents, light ... that is what I see. I listen to and look at people, nature. They become a part of my sensations.

Their inscrutability is also in part mine - as much as I can understand of it and present - only that much.
