Description of Residency

ArtFunkl is looking for adventurous, enthusiastic people who would like to visit Manchester during the pre-Christmas season, and experience the city at a time when there is an intense amount of activity, both in the Art World, and in the social scene in general.

Metamorphosis 01 residency is an opportunity for artists to confront new ideas, or regeneration of their work over a 6 week duration. This is regarded as a period of exploration without any pressure, with a completely open brief for how the work should be shown at the end of the residency.

Towards the end of the year there is a vibrant energy in Manchester; people conclude projects they have been working on over the year, and come to points of pause as the New Year approaches. The aim of the Metamorphosis Residency is to allow artists to absorb and use this dynamic, while reviewing their past thinking, and experimenting beyond what they have already achieved.
