DanceMe is a cross-media participatory project about Performing Arts and Web 2.0 which is part of the festival Solo in Azione, dedicated to Solo dance performers.

The project involves 16 European participants (8 performers, 2 web designers, 2 musicians, 2 critics, 2 video artists), who creates an interdisciplinary creative lab during12 months (May 2010 – June 2011). DanceMe involves the Internet community as well, through a web platform that is going to be a very important part of the project itself.

Performers are going to be set in an art-in-residence program, where they will be free to create, one by one, solo performances. They will cooperate with musicians, video artists and critics. The latter will work as "creative tutors", giving them feedbacks and reviewing their work on the web community.

Each solo will be created inside a "performative chain": each performer will create a dance solo taking inspiration by the previous performer, remixing his/her solo, re-using it, letting her/himself be inspired by the choreographic material, the texts, the music used in the previous performance. The same will be doing musicians and video makers, who will let themselves be inspired by the music/videos created for the previous performance. Each performance, each music and each video will be given a Creative Commons license (non commercial - share alike). Thus, virtually everyone will be able to use the same material and to spread the project all over the world.

The web community is extremely important because it is the place where each performer, musician, critic, video artist post the video of the performance, audio and text material. People from all over the world will then be authorised to edit the material, adding their own and remixing it, giving feedbacks to the artists, or just following the creative process.

DanceMe can be a great opportunity for young European artists to experience how other European artists deal with creative processes. It will also foster the creation of a European cross-media network of young artists in the spirit that only active collaboration enhances good relationships among artists from different countries.
