An interview with cultural blogger Robert Misik

The 6th interview in the Cultural blogging in Europe series offers a different view on the cultural blogging sphere. Famous in Austria for his work as print journalist, Robert Misik talks to Annette Wolfsberger and explains why and how he started blogging.

Misik writes regularly for Profil (a weekly Austrian news magazine), Der Standard (an Austrian newspaper) and the Berlin-based newspaper, Die Tageszeitung. In 2008, he received the Austrian Federal Prize for Cultural Journalism ( Österreichischer Staatspreis für Kulturpublizistik).

The interview exposes how Misik drifted from traditional media to new formats – while his traditional activities in print newspapers and magazines help him fund his online projects. He explains that videos are a doorway to a new world creating additional technical difficulties when editing/uploading but also more direct feedback from the readers / viewers. More importantly, he stresses out that you need a different style and rhythm with new media – unless you want "to drown in the blogosphere".
