New Upcoming Forum at the Berlin Institute of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) The UK meets Germany: a Forum of Young Leaders. 24th-28th August 2009
Founded in 1999, The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy is an international, not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation with headquarters in the United States and Germany.
The ICD is at the centre of a global network of independent partners in both the public and private sectors, whose collective mission is to enhance the process of international and interregional human interaction by improving the very fabric of social relations.
The UK Meets Germany: A Forum for Young Leaders (UKMG)
Our next 5-days Seminar will be held in Berlin on the topic of German/British Relations.
The UKMG is a network of young, influential people from both sides of the North Sea who have an active interest in supporting the UK-Germany relationship.
These Seminars consist of the following components:
-Lectures/Panel Discussions
-Workshops
-Social/Cultural excursions
Speakers at the lectures will include leading figures from academia, politics, the media, and civil society. Participants will learn about the field of cultural diplomacy, explore the UK-Germany relationship, and take part in challenging group discussions on important issues. The lectures will be followed by questions and answer sessions that will allow the participants to discuss the content with the speaker, and each other.
Participants of the Seminar will be able to join the ICD Young Leaders Forum. The ICD will support the young leaders in conducting research into the bilateral relationship, which can either be published on our online media service (Cultural Diplomacy News, www.cd-n.org), online in the ICD research section, or in our forthcoming book “Case Studies in Cultural Diplomacy”.
The Forum will also organise a number of shorter, academic conferences throughout the year that the members are invited to attend and to help organise. Through the ICD Online Forum, members are able to keep in touch with one another and members of the other ICD Forums and share important information about job opportunities and related events. Finally, the ICD will support and offer guidance to members who are interested in organising their own cultural exchange initiatives.
