CuratorLab is an international one-year residency and research programme designed for emerging curators, critics, artists, writers and theorists. It is underpinned by intense critical dialogue between participants and an international core faculty as well as invited curators, artists, theorists and other experts who take part in seminars and discussions. Participants are expected to develop the content of the programme by organising special seminars on their research topics, in collaboration with the faculty of CuratorLab and international institutions. Since 2006, CuratorLab (curatorlab@konstfack.se) has been a travelling programme, meaning that participants may choose to live where they wish, as the seminars move between Stockholm, Berlin, Paris and Istanbul.

CuratorLab was founded at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1999. The founders were Måns Wrange and Hans Hedberg, both artists and professors at Konstfack's Fine Art department. In 2000, the curator and writer Karina Ericsson Wärn was hired as the course leader of the programme.

CuratorLab was originally a curatorial program based in Stockholm, but changed direction in 2006, becoming a travelling research-based programme for younger, already professional curators, artists and writers.

The programme features intense one- or two-week residencies in a European city every month. Each residency consists of a seminar with one or several invited international guest speakers, as well as studio visits and meetings with artists, curators, theorists and other professionals. Participants are expected to organise public presentations in each city, consisting of an exhibition, film/video screenings, lectures or symposiums.
