The UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists promote the mobility of young artists in and beyond Europe.
The programme aligns with the Convention on the Promotion and Protection of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, so it seeks to enrich the work of young artists and highlights the impact of cultural diversity on creativity.
It offers bursaries in the fields of creative writing, music and visual arts. The duration of the residency is 1-3 months and artists must apply directly to the partner organizations. There are currently placements in Czech Republic, France, India, Brazil, Canada, Senegal, USA, Australia, Colombia, Italy and Republic of Korea.
Institutions willing to join the programme as hosts must sign a Memorandum of Understanding providing basic information and commitment to specific terms (selection criteria: priority is given to developing countries applicants) and manage the travel arrangements and UNESCO reimburses for the travel costs – depending on location and economic situation, institutions may receive additional financial aid.
