
The article discusses experiences of several European post-socialist countries in restructuring the cultural field in their country as well as to reformulate their cultural policies during the last decade. The author reflects upon the conceptual frameworks that served to design and plan cultural change and to initiate recent cultural developments. It shows that in many post-socialist countries, legislation on the different sectors of the culture industries are well elaborated but are treated marginally in the context of cultural policy as a whole.
