The BBC reports that the Internet is in the running for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize, among 237 other individuals and organisations.
The editorial-in-chief of the Italian version of the magazine Wired mentions: "What happened in Iran after the latest election, and the role the web played in spreading information that would otherwise have been censored, are only the newest examples of how the internet can become a weapon of global hope".

A collective "Internet for Peace" has been set up to help support the nomination of the Internet - you can watch the promotional video below. However, "it is yet unclear who would accept the prize if the internet were to win."
