This report is the first study on the culture industries in Switzerland. It presents turnover and employment data as well as examines development potentials. The report discusses the "three-sector" model (state, private and intermediary sectors) and presents different definitions used to describe the culture industries. The Swiss cultural labour force is compared with the situation in Austria and Germany as well as in the larger EU. Short portaits of different fields, e.g. music, film, design, are provided.
