Majena Mafe is a trans-disciplinary artist working with the trans literary notion of sound in language. She ‘works’ through ventriloquis-ations of sounded-language and the creation of baroque scores for performing the excess of that language that she then stages as digital operas(or operations). She is completing practice-led PHD research, whilst working on the creation of a digital opera related to Gertrude Stein’s unsung theory of sound in language…
Her interested in ‘working’ with sound in and as language literally, philosophically and within cyberspace and its portal the web, is with the aim of expanding the varieties of literacy and ‘meaning’ possible in new media.
