Jean Harris is director of The Observer Translation Project, an international magazine of Romanian writing in translation that showcases previously untranslated fiction in seven plus languages each month. Now living in Bucharest, Ms. Harris holds a Ph.D. in British and American literature from Rutgers University and has published fiction and literary criticism. She received a 2007- 2008 translation grant from the International Center for Writing and Translation. In the framework of The Observer Translation project, she is currently editing an anthology of Romanian fiction for Absinth: New European Writing.
