It makes the EEA's web technologies available to facilitate collaboration on projects, organise partnership activities, and connect geographically distributed users working on research, policy-making and eco-innovation.

It offers web space for portals on policy support and networks dealing with different aspects of environmental sustainability, including environment assessments, good practice, research and development, communication, waste management, sustainable tourism, etc.

One example is the Citizen Observatory of Global Change, a project that aims to build a web platform where citizens can search for relevant local or global information about the environment. In the future, people should also be able to report their own observations about the environment.

Other examples are the DestiNet, a knowledge exchange network for sustainable tourism, and the FAIRMODE Forum for Air Quality Modelling in Europe, a centralised portal for the exchange of experience, with the aim of establishing a common infrastructure for air quality assessment.
