A PROPOSAL FOR A ONE-DAY LEADERSHIP AND CARRER DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR ON NIGERIAN/AFRICAN YOUTHS TOWARDS BUILDING YOUNG LEADERS WITH CREATIVE THINKING. Dear Sir/Madam, ORIGIN: This SEMINAR and JOB FAIR proposal originates from ALOT-LYRICS EDUTAINMENT of the University of Nigeria Nsukka assisted by the Students’ Union Government, Abia State Polytechnic, Aba. ALOT-LYRICS EDUTAINMENT (ALE) is a not-for-profit, highly motivated, premier youth entertainment and educational organization that is dedicated to help the youth actualize their innate potentials/talents for both positive personal development and, by extension, the development of a national consciousness towards excellence. PROJECT TITLE: Building Young Leaders with Creative Thinking. NEED: Our great writer Chinua Achebe has said, ‘ Nigeria is what it is because its leaders are not what they should be.’ We might ask what our leaders should be and the answer is simple: They should be people who want to serve and unite the various peoples of this great nation, not for selfish reasons, but for the good of all. Furthermore, they must be able to exercise power only for good purposes without aloowing it to corrupt them. To be to achieve these things takes great character and humility. The choice for the next generation is being decided by the youths of today. Nigeria/Africa looks to the youths to achieve the potential greatness and promise of independence which have yet to be realized. What are the great ideas and creative abilities Nigerian/African youths will choose to ensure Nigeria and ultimately Africa will survive and prosper to the benefits of all? That is what this seminar will explore and seek to empower the youths with tools to enhance their preparedness to deal with the real world and as they seek creative thinking powers. This event is IMPORATANT and unique in the sense that it is an Interactive one where the youths will be allowed to ask questions on how to develop creative thinking and also better ideas in this 21st Century. The EXPECTED OUTCOMES are: 1. The participating students, having being taught how to adopt changed mindsets in order to create new ideas by transforming and exercising their minds in productive and lucrative ways. 2. The participating students will all receive certificates indicating they participated in this Seminar will leave better equipped with productive ideas and vital knowledge in order to take up leadership responsibility in creating ideas in their fields and areas of expertise. The BENEFICIARIES of this unique event are the youths, students, resource persons and staff. The Nigerian/African youths will benefit by having their mindsets effectively transformed towards ideas creation, leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation and progressive thinking. The reason the students should join in this great event is to motivate them on the importance of education and effectively educate them on the importance of developing creative thinking. Finally, the resource persons will benefit by being opportune to speak positive words as change agents that will change the mindsets of the young people for good, meet with their fellow resource persons, and have their books and training materials sold during and after the event. The kind of FOLLOW-UP SERVICE we intend to carry out after the event is to provide investigators who will monitor the activities of the participated youths, students,etc in order to know if they are living up to expectation for the good of the society. The follow –up is to determine youths, students, etc performance in activities which the programme has prepared them for. This follow-up service can be conducted by collecting information from the youths, students, etc through: 1. Follow-up letters 2. Personal visits 3. Rating forms and; 4. Telephone calls.
