Contemporary Bulgarian Writers in English  is the brand new project of the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation which presents up-to-date profiles of living Bulgarian authors of fiction and short stories.

Each profile contains biography, excerpt(s) and picture. Synopsizes, interviews and critical reviews are gradually being added. This site also features the translators of the published texts. Profiles are searchable by author and title.

The content of this website is generated by some of the core projects of the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation, such as its international Sozopol Fiction Seminars, the Krustan Dyankov Translation Award and the Fiction Pages in the VAGABOND English Monthly.

Although this project kicks off with profiles of writers we have worked with, new authors will be regularly added.

Together with the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation’s ongoing projects, which will continue to feed the database with new texts in translation, the site will be additionally updated through open requests.

Submissions to the website will be accessed by an international review panel twice a year.  We accept proposals for writers to be featured on the site by writers, publishers, editors, translators and literary critics.

Before being published every entry is approved by the featured author.
