GIBANICA / MOVING CAKE
The fourth Slovenian dance festival
February 19th – 22nd, 2009 (Ljubljana, Slovenia)
In 4 days the Moving Cake 2009 will present 20 performances from 19 different authors and a large number of some of the most renowned Slovenian dancers and actors. The visitors will have the opportunity to see the best and the newest of what is happening in Slovenian dance space.
The main program will present 12 performances and will be complemented with a very compelling accompanying program of eight performances, which are the work of some of the most interesting young Slovenian authors of the new generation.
Next to a very rich performance program, the platform includes guided tours, lead by Slovenian artists, who will present some of the artistic venues in Ljubljana (including the main cultural center Cankarjev dom, the Dance Theater (Plesni teater Ljubljana) and Stara elektrarna (the main venue for experimental performing arts practices). In these guided tours you will have the chance to meet your colleagues and artists, there will be talks about the performances in the program and you will also have the opportunity to learn more about the functioning and the programming of these venues.
Last but not least, this year you can enjoy a tour of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, lead by professional tour guides from Slovenian Tourist Agency, who will show you all of the main city sights and for all who would like to mix art with cooking, there will be a course, teaching how to bake "gibanica" (Slovenian traditional cake).

The Best Moving Cake

Moving Cake is a biennial Slovenian contemporary dance platform, presenting new generations of choreographers, dancers and numerous new groups from the last decade. Slovenian dance production reached an envious level of quality and professionalism and it is an extremely prolific and interesting one and it’s been increasingly recognized on the international stage.
