Roadworks is a touring truck guerilla outfit working with the Dutch band, Voicst and artist’s collective, Natwerk. They will be touring in Belgrade (26th), Sarajevo (24th) and Zagreb (22nd) in April and LabforCulture will be profiling the work of photographer, Martijn de Vries who will accompany the musicians and artists through the region. The photoblog will have a sound component which also be screened during the performances.
Voicst is best known for "Everyday I work On The Road”, written as a love song and about a shared broken past. Roadworks links this theme to the situation in the Balkan countries, between Bosnians, Croats and Serbs, across generations. The song is being re-released as a special Roadworks single and will be played across regional radio stations. Download your free copy from the Roadworks website. Local bands will also play with Voicst. In Croatia, the project will be supported by Illectricity, one of the most important festivals in electronic music in Southeast Europe, and will appear at the Sirup Club in Zagreb. In Bosnia and Herzegovina they work with Kriterion, and in Serbia, Belgrade they will be on the roof of the club, Dom Omladine with local bands Petrol and Repetitor.
So if you are local check the website for more details, and if you can’t make it, check in around the 22nd of April for the start of the coverage.
Roadworks is an initiative of the City of The Hague, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Dutch Fund for Performing Arts (NFPK), Magyaren and BKB.
