The book is a collection of papers presented during a conference held in Graz (1997). The experts and practitioners discussed perspectives of the cultural labour market and how it could be influenced via cultural policies or market initiatives. The need for artists and other cultural professionals to show more interest in these matters, also as regards their European dimensions, is a conclusion in most of the contributions.
