Active in design, archictecture, communication and other creative processes that adopt a contemporary approach, Experimenta Design is a platform for promoting Portuguese design and presenting a new aesthetics in Portuguese culture. It conceives, produces and promotes such events as the Experimenta Design – Lisbon Biennial, an international event for design, architecture and contemporary culture, with exhibitions, urban interventions, workshops, conferences and an educational programme. Its installation/exhibition unit 'Voyager' travels throughout the country and elsewhere in Europe. The organisation is also responsible for developing the Portuguese design brand Designwise and has various editorial projects. It was initiated in 1999.
