Abandon Normal Devices: Exhibitions at FACT

FACT Liverpool | 05 Sept 2011, 12:59

Kurt Hentschläger – ZEE

An abstract luminous landscape that envelopes gallery visitors in dense fog, intense light and surround sound to create a unique user-generated art event.

Variously described as “insane”, “like entering Heaven” and like being on another planet, ZEE, will turn FACT’s Gallery 1 in to an out of body experience.

Ahmed Basiouny – 30 Days Of Running In Place

Zhang Qing – The People’s Secretary

A city with a history of political agitation, Liverpool will welcome the work of two video artists who have stood up to the system in their respective countries, Egypt and China.

Basiouny’s work is all the more poignant as he was shot dead during the January 2011 Egyptian uprising. 30 Days Of Running In Place will be shown alongside footage filmed by the artist in Tahrir Square days before his death.

The FACT exhibition is a continuation from the Abandon Normal Devices festival which takes place in Liverpool from the 29 September – 02 October. For further information visit andfestival.org.uk
