Herito is a fully bilingual Polish-English magazine on culture and heritage. The focus on contemporary Central-European subjects makes the quarterly unique in the world. We want the quarterly to be helpful in building cultural bridges, not only in the domain of ideas, but also in the practical sphere of heritage as seen in the context of the economy and the development of social potential.
The magazine is focused on questions of place and reflection on it, on space and its meanings, on the geography of imagination and memory. The background for these considerations is Central Europe, with its experience and cultural dilemmas both specific and striking at the heart of contemporary debate. In order to grasp it in its entire diversity, we present the point of view of authors both from the region and of experts on it from other parts of the world.
The contributors to Herito have included: Claudio Magris, Robert Traba, Simona Škrabec, Erhard Busek, Martin Pollack, Anda Rottenberg, Csaba G. Kiss, Radu Pavel Gheo, Felix Ackermann, Mathieu Olivier, John V. Maciuika, Bela Tsipuria, Bogdan Bogdanović and Peter Krečič.
The issues published until now have been entitled: Symbols and clichés, Imagined identities, The city and the museum, Art is changing (a) place, Cities for thought and Culture and politics
Moreover, in each issue of Herito: an interview, opinions and reflections on new and recent exhibitions and books, presentations of successful cultural projects and modern institutions operating in the broadly defined field of heritage.
Herito is aimed at people actively participating in shaping and implementing cultural policy, looking for strategic partners in this field; at people engaged in domestic and foreign promotion of new developments and places; at foreigners looking for a publication informing about the most important events in the region.
