Practics.org is a new 3-year project coordinated by the Finnish Theatre Information Centre which joined forces with ten other cultural organisations from six EU-countries with the aim to facilitate the provision of information about EU cross-border mobility in the cultural sector. The project develops so-called “ EU Cultural Mobility Contact Points” (CMCPs), launched on 15 May 2009, which it will pilot in four EU-countries: Belgium, Spain, Wales and the Netherlands. Their task will be to offer relevant and user-friendly information to:
• foreign cultural workers who want to work in the country in which the CMCP is based;
• national cultural workers who want to work in another EU-country.
The CMCPs are piloted by Kunstenloket in Belgium, SICA in the Netherlands, the Arts Council of Wales / Wales Arts International in Wales and the Interarts Foundation in Spain. They are conceived as first entry-points for mobile cultural workers and offer advice and administrative support regarding cross-border mobility in the cultural sector.
Another useful resource to look at is aRTfactorie - an international platform for arts and culture centres stemming from citizen initiatives. It was created originally in 2002 in order to represent and promote existing and emerging “projects/spaces”. These are defined as places of creativity, of production, of elaboration, of artistic cross-polinization, of experimentation, of invention, encounters, of conviviality, etc. Their main intention is to offer new steps and possibilities in the visions of contemporary creation towards community development. Since November 2007, aRTfactories developed its resource platform in close collaboration with autre(s)parts, a group of united actors around the relationship people, art and society.
The new aRTfactorie’s website is now online-have fun exploring! It gives opportunities to share stories of artistic exchanges, citizens engagement, collective actions and thinking, and diverse relationships to art, people and society.
On-the-Move’s mobility information service is now back in action, thanks to the support of the BKM (Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, Germany), Ministry of Education Finland, The Open Society Institute and Arts Council of Ireland.
On-the-move is a web site dedicated to international mobility opportunities and information in theatre, dance, music and other contemporary performing arts disciplines. It is intended for artists and performing arts professionals from Europe and beyond. The plan for 2009 and beyond includes partnership with the Asia-Europe Foundation on mobility information resources for users of both OTM and ASEF’s new Culture360 Asia-Europe cultural portal.
OTM subscribers receive now the regular newsletter with selected international mobility opportunities and the news section will be updated frequently.
