Dimitrina Bakurdjieva (born 1982 in Karlovo, Bulgaria) completed her MFA (2007) and BFA (2005) at the National Art Academy in Sofia.

Her professional work includes painting, creating original murals for private clients, and duplicating Byzantine icons. She apprenticed for 4 months in the Bulgarian theatre creating plastic and makeup effects.

Dimitrina moved to the United States at the end of 2007 and has begun a new body of studio work inspired by the Pacific Ocean and the climate of the Pacific Northwest. She is also an amateur photographer focused on documenting atmospheres and materials' patinas and deterioration.
