The Foundation's main aims are to develop and reinforce solidarity between the countries of the Mediterranean. The Foundation also acts as an information centre on the Mediterranean, advising and networking cultural and social organisations and initiatives in the region. It supports the exchange and cooperation between Mediterranean populations working in cultural, social and scientific fields through the allocation of grants and assistance, on application.
