An international network which aims to bring 'books and children together'. With branches in over 60 countries, the network represents countries with well-developed publishing industries and literacy programmes, as well as those which still need pioneering work done in terms of book publishing for children.

The 'National Sections' of IBBY operate regionally, nationally and internationally. Individual membership is still possible in countries that do not have a local office.
