Bigger… Better… Beautiful? Final Report of the Conference on the Impact of EU Enlargement on Cultural Opportunities Across Europe

This report from the "Big, Better, Beautiful" Conference contains presentations which further develop the links between the theoretical and practical aspects of the Enlargement process and its impact on the culture sector. The conference explored issues on cultural cooperation including the need to support and sustain cultural diversity through fostering cross border projects. Key recommendations included: an enhanced EU vision for culture including support for mobility; increased support for translations; improved labour conditions in CEE countries; secured place for culture and media in EU Structural Funds; better promotion of transnational funds; creation of a "risk-fund" to support new ideas. Recommendations for improving the Culture 2000 are made.
