The festival is a cooperative project between Escape Artists and CETEC with other Italian organisations and brings the Edge Festival, a socially inclusive arts festival begun in the UK, to continental Europe for the first time. The two organisations work with marginal communities in education and the arts and have collaboarated for many years. The festival aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas about social inclusion between the two countries and create opportunities for artists and practitioners to perform in an international context.
The Festival provides the first steps in a networking project that aims to become a traveling festival on a European level. It showcases groundbreaking work being developed with groups at the social margins, including prisoners and young offenders, ex-offenders, mental health service users and people at risk. It aims to transform previously dispersed efforts into a better recognised and more visible form of theatre expression.
