Creative Britain: New Talents for the New Economy

Autor: Lidia Varbanova - Fecha: 14 nov 2008, 11:39

A strategic plan of the UK's Department of Culture, Media and Sport to make Britain "the world's creative hub" by investing in talents and creativity as the engines of economic growth.

Britain is a creative country and creative industries are increasingly vital to the UK. Two million people are employed in creative jobs and the sector contributes £60 billion a year – 7.3 per cent – to the British economy.

This publication outlines the major challenges ahead over the next decade, the economic value of creativity, the need for best possible business support structures to be put in place, setting up a pool of talented people with the right skills to meet the needs of an expanding creative sector. The plan links education and the world of work, and includes a major signal of the Government’s intent by supporting the creative industries to undertake a significant expansion of apprenticeships.
