PUBLIC PROJECTIONS SERIES PRESENTS WORK BY
SWEDISH AND INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS

Yves Klein Blue Anthropometries by Madeleine Hatz is the first work to be shown.

A performance from a Brooklyn street reappears in Gothenburg as a projection in public space.

The performance Yves Klein Blue Anthropometries was part of an event organized by Creative Thriftshop, titled “7 in 6”: seven simultaneous performances during six hours. All were to be in the spirit of the 60s and 70s, and the event took place on the main street of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, blocked off from traffic for the purpose.

Hatz made her own version of Yves Klein’s “Anthroprometries”. Instead of using naked young models as instruments, the artist used her body dressed in blue and moving in slow meditative motions. The blue woman was stroking the ground with blue paint outling her body like an Ana Mendieta snow angel in the street.

Madeleine Hatz work cusps the genres of painting, sculpture and performance. Her work often has political undercurrents dealing with aspects of every day life and the access of public space. At times they are interlaced with direct actions organized at the boundary of art and activism. During 2009 her work has in been shown in Sweden, Netherlands, Spain and The US. Hatz lives in New York (US) and Sormland (SE).
