Menufaktura / On Lithuanian theatre

Arts Factory / Menu faktura (www.menufaktura.lt) is the biggest website for those interested in the performing arts, news, reviews and trends in Lithuanian theatre. It promptly announces up-to-date information about theatre and go beyond the traditional boundaries in search of more. Virtual reality accommodates the real world where theatre is not limited to state or other structures, or separated by dividing walls of genres or theatre buildings.

Besides news and theatre events from Lithuania and abroad, Arts Factory also offers a comprehensive database of theatre professionals, theatrical and cultural institutions and related links. Information about theatre professionals and their productions has been compiled by a theatre critic, Laura Blynaite. Programmes of productions released after 1990 are also presented here. (Programmes of earlier productions have already been published in five volumes titled Programmes of first-night performances of drama theatres; the publication was prepared and compiled by the Lithuanian State Archive of Literature and Art and the last volume by Elžbieta Chadaravi?iene and her colleagues at the Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema Museum). The database is continuously updated with new names and events.

Reviews and news released on Arts Factory are written by theatre professionals, critics and students of theatre art.

Arts Factory aims to bring up and educate theatre audience, which is constantly increasing in number, and acquaint the readers with both news and history of theatre. Audiences can certainly not be pushed around. Similarly, the opinion of the spectator or reader does not necessarily coincide with the opinion of the writer. When a night ends with theatre, the coming morning might begin with Arts Factory.
