A non-profit online TV channel covering the emerging art scene in Europe. The aim is to encourage intercultural dialogue between artists, curators and other arts professionals to contribute to the international mobility of people working in the field of art and culture, with a particular emphasis on promoting local art scenes.
Artyčok (artichoke) was founded in response to the lack of media coverage of the independent arts. Its digital online archive contains documentary material from exhibition openings, interviews with artists and curators, and recordings of talks and workshops. It documents the works of 2,500 artists from over 100 countries, all of whom have presented their work in Europe. A video art section of the website focuses on trends in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Founded by the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, it offers the only integrated database of its kind in Europe - allowing audiences to access and compare information about local art scenes across Europe. Working in collaboration with various European arts centres and organisations, the project has been funded with the support of the European Commission.
