EXHIBITION "LYRICS OF FADO"
I Felt
the nostalgia of fado
in my voice
little loving but hot;
-With a tear,
I said,
my past and my present.
António Botto
THE LYRICS AND THE FADO
The melody, the tones, the vibration, the gestures, the dress ... Everything in the Fado sings, Weeps, laughs, all the lyrics expressing jealousy, nostalgia, grief, loneliness and hope.
Lyrics are the essence of Fado
Lyrics, cultured poetry of improvised verses, tell stories, evoke scenes, featuring characters, express feelings that turn into emotions.
Understanding the lyric in Fado explains the reality of the sensations. It’s a living organism from which to convey immortality of knowledge and universal essence.
Studying the idea of the word ‘Fado’, is transforming its concept and reaching a new understanding of emotions. The moment when the longing if embodied, recalls the soul and the perfection of things.
The word and the painting in Fado is the pure and perfect idea that needs the soul and the longing to be able to recreate something, of which nothing exists, neither written nor thought.
Learning the essence of the lyric brings us a new rhetoric to use it in an intelligent and personal way, not basing it upon the knowledge of existing things, but yet on their ideals.
When I speak of the word “ fado”, I speak about arts that use the most delicate colors, the most subtle sensations and daring from the core of creativity.
The word “Fado” has an exuberant richness and expresses feelings and desires, a way of life, a philosophy of love and unlove with arts.
I feel the image of the fado singer, its gestures, body movement, eyes half closed as if drowned in a soft agony, head back and body gently swaying to the rhythm of music.
"I accepted the old age with the same ease with which I accept the sunny days, the rain or the wind."
Amália Rodrigues
The Fados and lyrics, are 6 in total. Those that moved me most, as reflected in their movement and colors. I humbly evoke Amalia, Yes, I assume the desire to feel the vibrating of voice, posture and the "thank you, thank you" when she finished her act opening and raising her arms with crystalline eyes.
