A PROPOSAL FOR AN UNDERGRADUATE EDUTAINMENT CONFERENCE AND CAMPAIGN AGAINST HIV/AIDS STIGMATIZATION ON NIGERIAN/AFRICAN YOUTHS.
Dear Sir/Madam,
ORIGIN:
This CONFERENCE proposal originates from ALOT-LYRICS EDUTAINMENT of the University of Nigeria Nsukka in affiliation with Vine Vibes Production, Lagos , Nigeria and mataPASIFIKA FILM PRODUCTIONS, Auckland , New Zealand . ALOT-LYRICS EDUTAINMENT (ALE) is a not-for-profit, highly motivated, premier youth entertainment and educational organization that is dedicated to help the youth actualize their innate potentials/talents for both positive personal development and, by extension, the development of a national consciousness towards excellence. VINE VIBES PRODUCTIONS is a division of Vibes Asahi Music and Movie Production Limited set up with the interest of promoting young and untapped talents that abound in the country and the world at large. mataPASIFIKA FILM PRODUCTIONS is a new film production company set up to document cultural survival and to inspire the efforts of youth to achieve their goals in a challenging and fast-changing world.
Note: The concept of an HIV/AIDS Campaign against stigmatization and discrimination has to do with a Musical/Drama titled ‘Save a Soul’ which was designed to relate the society on the importance of showing love and affection to the affected HIV/AIDS victims in our midst. The main aim is to encourage the people not to discriminate or stigmatize the infected people around us but rather give them hope for a better tomorrow.
THEME:
Entrepreneurship and Entertainment Education; the way Forward for the Youths.
NEED:
The choice for the next generation is being decided by the youths of today. The bedrock of national industrialization for any country is entrepreneurial and entertainment activities. The mindset of an average Nigerian/African citizen, especially the young people who have acquired some level of education, is to look up for salaried jobs, with the belief that someone or an organization must offer him/her an employment. This is the reason way so many youths are trooping into the streets after graduation from institutions of learning with their certificates, looking for jobs for days unending without success. He/she is not in the least mindful of the fact that he/she can start doing something on his/her own, even in the interim, and so, he/she blames the government, the family members and everyone else for his/her lack of job. Until the youths of today realize that one is accountable for his/her life and decisions, we will forever be relying on someone else to take the blame if things go wrong. What are the great ideas Nigerian/African youths will choose to ensure Nigeria and ultimately Africa will survive and prosper to the benefit of all? That is what this conference will explore and seek to determine while it offers some alternative thinking in the effort to inspire a new generation of morally and ethically motivated youths who will use their mind to achieve better things.
PURPOSES:
1. To effectively transform the mindsets of Nigerian/African Youth towards leadership, innovation, creation of ideas, and progressive thinking.
2. To effectively make available information on HIV/AIDS and the need not to stigmatize.
3. To effectively motivate over 4000 students and Staff of the Faculty of Education, University of Nigeria towards transforming their minds for excellence in positive achievement.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To define the role and importance of relevant education for young people in a fast-changing world.
2. To learn how to motivate the youth in creative thinking.
3. To understand and practice how to develop an entrepreneurship mindset and related entertainment skills.
4. To recognize the importance of creativity, skills acquisition and good, moral business and work ethics among young people.
FORMAT:
1. Four hours lecture and interactive sessions (Entrepreneurship Morning Session).
2. Four hours 30 minutes interactive sessions comprising the HIV/AIDS Playlet titled ‘Save a Soul’, Music, Dance and Fashion Presentations (Entertainment Evening Session).
PLANNED OUTCOMES:
1. The participating students, having being taught how to adopt changed mindsets in order to innovate with new ideas, will be better positioned to improve their prospects by transforming and exercising their minds in productive and lucrative ways.
2. The participating students will all receive certificates indicating they participated in this conference and will leave better equipped with productive ideas and vital knowledge in order to take up leadership responsibility in entrepreneurship and entertainment areas of expertise.
