An Alternative Gaze - a shared reflection on cross-Mediterranean cooperation in the arts

The outcomes of the Mediterranean Reflection Group process that took place between 2006-2007, initiated by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF).

It offers a reflection on how cultural and artistic cooperation between Europe and the southern Mediterranean is being shaped, what does it mean and what is the aim for all those concerned. It aims to understand the “other” perspective, as a way to realise what might be the best conditions for an open, informed debate and to facilitate genuine cooperation across this region. This book brings together voices, eyes and words from Europe, North Africa, Turkey and the Middle East. A dedicated web page on the ECF website displays many other resources on cross-Mediterranean cooperation in the arts.
