We work with and for artists, arts and culture organisations and networks, cultural professionals, and audiences in all of the countries of the broader Europe and between Europe and the rest of the world. Our mission is to 1) ensure that all those working on cultural collaborations have access to up-to-the-minute information and 2) to encourage the cultural sector to become more experimental with online technologies.

  • Spaces for connections, exchanges and knowledge sharing between organisations and individuals.
  • Platforms for discussion and debate on current issues affecting the cultural sector.

The submission of new resources to the site is based on a transparent and consistent editorial policy. Individual editors have responsibility for maintaining specific sections of the site. Together they form the LabforCulture Editorial Group. Every effort is made to ensure geographic representation and a variety of professional perspectives within the Editorial Group. To maintain this representation, it is preferable that the Editor of the Funding Section be located in one of the Nordic or Baltic countries.

The Editorial Group works mainly online. Offline meetings take place twice a year in Amsterdam. Travel expenses will be paid by LabforCulture. Working language is English. Next meeting: 21 & 22 February 2008.

Responsibilities of the Funding Section Editor:

2 - LabforCulture is seeking a Freelance Project Manager for its 2008 Region in focus: Adriatic Euroregion

With personalised viewpoints on geographical and thematic areas in the broader Europe, the Region in focus section of LabforCulture.org provides special visibility for independent cultural and artistic organisations that have the potential for European cross-border cooperation. It includes information on cultural policies, operators and organisations in lesser-known countries, culturally diverse regions or particular cities where various cultures live together. Each Region in focus comprises 1) mappings of key resources (independent cultural organisations, publications, projects, online resources, case studies) in each country in the region and 2) viewpoints or perspectives on the region. Both aspects are prepared by local experts.

Since launching the site in June 2006, LabforCulture has presented the following Regions in focus: Bulgaria and Romania; Poland; Spain and Portugal; Turkey; Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine; and the Nordic region: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Iceland. The next Region in focus, which will be published in early 2008, will present France.

In 2008, LabforCulture would like to present the Adriatic Euroregion in two parts (May and September 2008). This region comprises: Albania, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro and Slovenia.

Working closely with the content developer at LabforCulture, the Project Manager will:

  1. Propose and elaborate an overall approach/theme for the Region in focus on the Adriatic Euroregion.
  2. Develop a timeline and manage a schedule to meet the agreed publication dates.
  3. Select a specific format and approach for each of the two editions of the region in focus in relation to the agreed them/overall approach. This includes selecting writers, commentators, artists, photographers and other contributors to give an overall viewpoint in the region. This approach does not need to follow the format of previous regions and focus and should provide a fresh outlook in both content and approach and maximise the interactive potential of LabforCulture.
  4. Identify one person or organisation per country to be contracted to undertake the regional mapping.
  5. Project manage the two editions of the Region in focus including coordinating the content input, overseeing the deliverables of the content providers and regularly updating LabforCulture on the progress of the Region in focus.
  6. Provide content to LabforCulture in a timely fashion so that it can be edited and translated based on the agreed timeline.
  7. Liaise with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator at LabforCulture in order to provide necessary material for promotional purposes.
  8. Contribute, where possible, to the promotional activities for the Region in focus by identifying key contacts in the six countries, in collaboration with the individuals who undertake the country mappings.

Contract period: March 2008 – October 2008
Contract fee: 3600€ (Additional fees will be provided for the viewpoints and country mappings.)
Interested applicants with extensive experience in the cultural sector in the region are invited to submit their CV and a brief perspective on how they would like to approach the region. Submit to: gunilla[at]labforculture.org
Deadline for submissions: February 29, 2008
