A dance festival which takes place every two years in various Balkan countries. The festival encourages the development of contemporary dance in the Balkans by providing a platform for choreographers, dancers and new productions, and assisting networking in the region. The festival has been staged in Sofia (2001), Bucharest (2003) and Skopje (2005).
This regional, itinerant festival presents new artistic ideas and initiatives in contemporary dance to local audiences in the Balkanns as well as international guests. It has been a catalyst for greater public recognition of and support for contemporary dance in Romania. The Balkan Dance platform was founded by Dessy Gavrilova (Red House) and Cosmin Manolescu (Project DCM Foundation) in 2000.
