Ethno

Descripción breve

Since 1989, the JMI network has been organising Ethno, a series of music camps across Europe.

Contexto y escenario

At these camps, traditional/folk musicians aged 15-28 from different musical, geographical and cultural backgrounds come together to teach and learn from each other the music of each participant's cultural heritage. With ethno-world.org, Jeunesses Musicales International has created an online platform that addresses past and future programme participants and related arts and youth organisations, highlighting the programme as best practice for fostering intercultural dialogue through music and friendship.

Descripción del proyecto

Ethno is currently being held annually in Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Macedonia, Slovenia and Sweden. While many partners have country/event specific sites, there was a desire to create a single reference point on Ethno with Ethno World.

Each year Ethno is held in various European locations and includes a combination of workshops, jam sessions, seminars, and performances at some of Europe's biggest folk music festivals.

Each of the project partners have participated in the site conception and planning of Ethno and are content contributors.

Here you can see a video that was created during the international music camp Ethno Histria.
