The magical spell appeared in 1985 on the NES, as a feature added by a developer to help testing out the game Gradius. Since then, it has made its way in the videogame history and reused in many games from various companies - see this list for more information.

Facebook recently implemented the Konami code on its pages - pressing enter at the end of the key combinations let a 'lens flare' appear when you scroll the page (see this article on TechCrunch). It's nice to see the trendy-hippy-Web 2.0 Facebook picking up such pieces of popular culture, that were probably unknown from the masses a couple of years ago.

Is Facebook finally spreading digital culture? ;-)
