Panorama is a resource offered by the Platform for Intercultural Europe, which was initiated in 2006 (as the Civil Society Platform for Intercultural Dialogue) by Culture Action Europe and the European Cultural Foundation (ECF), with the support of the Network of European Foundations (NEF) and on the occasion of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The website has just been launched online at:

Why a resource collection for intercultural dialogue?
During the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008, we created, engaged, exchanged, learned, co-operated. We built up new bridges and strived for creating understanding between our never ending differences in cultural background, beliefs, religion, ethnicity, gender, education, age, marital status, incomes, languages, custom, traditions, artistic expressions, ways of thinking and acting.... What legacy do we leave for the future as a result of our “Intercultural Dialogue”? How much did we achieve? There will be still a process of evaluation of what happened during the year; what are the long-term sustainable outcomes of all artistic and cultural projects, papers, documents, diverse events realised throughout the year.
The types of collected resources in the Panorama are:
- documents and publications of the European Commission, Council of Europe, UNESCO;
- documents, publications, projects of European cultural networks and associations;
- publications (books, articles and viewpoints, research work and reports) of key authors, experts, researchers;
- virtual libraries and online resource centers;
- projects and practices, incl. websites presenting collection of practices;
- organisations;
- events of European networks, associations, government bodies.
It is important to remind that the Rainbow Paper “Intercultural Dialogue: From Practice to Policy and Back” (a policy paper dealing with the needs arising from cultural diversity and hence not covered by “white” or “green” papers) sets out the Platform’s approach to Intercultural Dialogue and delivers its recommendations both to its own constituency and to public authorities at all levels in Europe, using the European Union as the point of access. This paper is the result of a participative process in which many organisations came together to shape the voice of European civil society in the field of Intercultural Dialogue. You can still endorse the results of the process by visiting http://rainbowpaper.labforculture.org and sign up to the recommendations.
Discover also the gallery of photographs by .Valery Klamm and cartoons by Oleg Dergachov . The pictures provide vivid borders to “Panorama” and can be revealed at full size with a simple click. You can then stretch your imagination for a few seconds before returning to browsing in the resource collection.
