From Cultural to Creative Industries: Theory, Industry, and Policy Implications

Author: Lidia Varbanova - Date: 23 may 2006, 10:48

In his theoretical paper, Cunningham reflects on the nature of the knowledge-based economy and its relation to culture and creativity. He discusses different efforts to distinguish between the cultural and creative industries which have implications for theory, industry and public policies. In addition to Australian literature and examples, some European experiences are discussed, including the debate about regional development activities (e.g. "Paris or the provinces?").
