
Social entrepreneurs are critical to developing sustainable solutions to the challenges of the 21st century. The study focuses on identifying the support needed to enable community-based social entrepreneurs to be effective within disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the UK.
It sketches out the context within which individuals, families, neighbourhoods, cities, businesses and national and supranational bodies operate; describes the range of activities in which social entrepreneurs are engaged; identifies some of the core characteristics of social entrepreneurs and focuses upon the importance of social entrepreneurs in the community.
