A research mapping of national approaches and policies relating to intercultural dialogue in Europe, conducted by ERICArts for the European Commission.
What does intercultural dialogue mean for specific sectors such as education, culture and the arts, youth and sports? What does it involve legally and politically for the different national governments? And does this buzzword mean something to European citizens? (See also the survey results of the Eurobarometer Flash 217 on Intercultural Dialogue in Europe). This report aims to discuss and clarify the possible gap between the EU political agenda and the concrete ideas, attitudes and actions at the member-state level. It discusses how “intercultural dialogue” is understood and further analyses a potential legal framework. Then it assesses and gives an overview of the European countries' position and strategy and proposes final policy recommendations. To find out more about the research process, see also its website “Intercultural Dialogue Europe”.
