One? Two? Or more? The levels of cultural cooperation in Europe

Author: Lidia Varbanova - Date: 22 oct 2008, 07:34

This book analyses the various levels and forms of international cultural activities that can promote the image of a country abroad.

According to this book, unilateral cultural activity expresses itself in two main forms: the operation of national institutions and cultural centres abroad and the organisation of complex cultural programmes abroad.

Bilateral cooperation can be built through: intergovernmental cultural agreements; intergovernmental work plans, exchange programmes and other contracts; agreements between institutions; financing and managing cultural centres; the activity of NGOs; and the trade of culture abroad.
