Making Adaptive Resilience Real

Author: Lidia Varbanova - Date: 25 oct 2010, 11:29

This online publication focuses on the importance of being able to remain productive and true to core purpose and identity whilst absorbing disturbance and adapting with integrity in response to changing circumstances.

The author looks at the cycle of change among organisations and the art sector's experience, and  identifies the eight characteristics you can build to be more resilient and less vulnerable. In addition, it includes reflections on how funders can best invest to build resilience.

The report aims to:

• explore the relevance of resilience thinking to the arts

• suggest a basic or simplified hypothetical version of an‘arts ecology’

• identify characteristics of resilient arts organisations and sectors

• make recommendations for how Arts Council England and others could enhance resilience in the arts sector.
