The Research Network on the Sociology of the Arts of the European Sociological Association organises on 1-3 September 2010 at the University of Surrey in Guilford, United Kingdom, a conference on the role of the arts in the future.

The thematic sessions are related to themes such as "children and the arts", "the future of the arts" and "recent developments in theory in the sociology of the arts". In order to allow a large-range of presentations, the organization has chosen to use a broad definition of the sociology of the arts.

Deadline for abstract submissions is 1 March 2010.
