PLATOON.cultural development is an organisation that runs diverse cultural and communication projects in collaboration with an international community of creative people from all different professions. Operations are coordinated from Berlin and Seoul.
PLATOON's European headquarters were set up in Berlin in 2000. PLATOON KUNSTHALLE was launched in Seoul in 2009 as a space for subculture in Asia, created from 28 cargo containers as a symbol of flexible architecture in a globalised culture. It provides a communication platform for people interested in subcultural creative fields like street art, graphic design, fashion, video art, programming, music, club culture, political activism, etc.
The space provides showcases for underground artists, studio residencies and a selection of cutting-edge stage performances to introduce the potential of subculture to Korea and Asia.
