With an absolute faith in God – and in the righteousness of their work – hundreds of Belgian missionaries have for centuries gone to the Congo. They gave the country its present "post-colonial shame". Mission shows the unselfishness and real nobility of the mission. The audience is dragged along in a world filled with prejudice about missionaries in and the western image of Africa. In Belgium, this re-evaluation of the missionary as a tragic person was greeted with emotion.
