ARTMUSFAIR is the new Europe-wide music creators’ convention dedicated to the source of contemporary music - the composers and writers of music and their representative organisations in Europe.
ARTMUSFAIR equally addresses all music professionals, their representative organisations and networks who are active in the specific field of Art Music in Europe.
“Connecting to the Composers of Europe” is the natural title of this first & piloting ARTMUSFAIR convention that is initiated and organised by the European Composers Forum (ECF) and hosted by the Finnish Composers Society in conjunction with the “Nordic Music Days” in Helsinki, October 2nd-4th 2008.
The European Composers’ Forum (initiator & coordinator of ARTMUSFAIR) is already representing and linking Art&Classical composer societies from 26 countries – and as such, all members will be present in Helsinki in October, fostering creative exchange, and establising closer cooperation and networking with each other while taking part in workshops and information seminars – all accompanied by this year’s musical programme of the “Nordic Music Days 2008“
The principal objectives of ARTMUSFAIR are to to bring composers into personal contact with relevant music professionals so that they can work more closely together, stimulate innovative thinking and encourage the development for future areas of cooperation.
The main elements to the programme this year are:
- Trade show stands that enable participants to display and exhibit their music, their scores and/or recording, their organisations, their projects, and a whole range of other information that they would like to share and exchange with other composers, performers and musicians, music promoters, managers, publishers, musicologists, students, journalists and funding agencies from all over Europe;
- During our “Project Stages” we serve considerable time slots and space to present relevant music projects of either a European scope or focusing on regional and/or local aspects. Your projects will furthermore receive feedback and input facilitating discussions that help to involve interested stakeholders or partners to forward your project to a further/higher level;
- “Project Workshops” focus on the future creation and funding of contemporary music in Europe, audience development, and raising the profile of Art Music in Europe.
