I am 28th years old and I am employed since March 2009 at the art gallery Bonelli ArteContemporanea, in Mantova (www.bonelliarte.com). I am appointed as gallery assistant to the international relationships of the gallery.
My duties includes: assistance to the Artistic Director in organizing sales and exhibition activities with international partners (museums, artists, collectors, curators) in Italy and abroad; research work for exhibitions and publications; answering to general public and professional enquiries; assistance in caring to collections and collectors requests (restoration, transport, lay-out of artworks, registration in archives, framing and lighting); update and communication of activities, articles, essays and reviews on general newspapers, websites, catalogues regarding artists, artworks and the gallery; arranging loans in Italy and abroad, catalogue and inventories preparation; set-up and drop-off of exhibitions and of art fair booths; preparation of visitors path labels along the gallery exhibition space. Furthermore, I am involved in the sales activity of the gallery and this enabled to develop a strong knowledge in import/export and VAT procedures in Italy and abroad. During my daily job, I am asked to report to the Artistic Director of the gallery and to work in team with the logistic branch and the administrative branch of the gallery.
Among the latest projects that I curated, I mention here the following ones:
- The Emergence of POP imagist, group show in collaboration with the Jonathan LeVine Gallery (NYC), Venice, June 2011, catalogue preparation, show set up, collectors relationships
- SCOPE art show, participation to the art fair, New York, March 2011, Miami December 2010 and Basel June 2009
- William Marc Zanghi, GLUE, solo show at the MITO art gallery, Barcelona, Spain, February 2011
In the end, I would like to briefly sum-up my previous job experience in the performing arts field: since 2008 I am stage assistant for the show WARUM WARUM directed by Peter Brook, in shows playing in Italy and Romania; in 2008 I worked in the programming branch at the Regional Repertory theatre in Modena (Emilia Romagna Teatro Fondazione).
I am an English and German proficient speaker (C1 EU parameter) and I understand and speak basic French and Spanish.
Regarding my education, I got a master degree in December 2008 in Cultural Economics at the University of Bologna (major: visual and performing arts) and I studied foreign languages at the University of Verona from October 2002 to March 2006.
I have an excellent knowledge of the Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) for Windows and I use daily the iPhone and iPad systems. Moreover, I work daily with the most common Internet browsers and following applications: Windows Live Mail, Inkscape, Adobe Creator, Skype and Joomla platform, Google applications I take care of the Facebook fan page of the gallery, the update of websites on Joomla host and Artcat host.
The main reason for applying to this job position at the Lisson Gallery is to experience a high qualifying job in a prestigious private gallery. I can’t wait to challenge myself in a high-profile context and to widen the knowledge of the field getting into touch with performers and established visual artists.
I am available to move for business, also abroad.
