Me and my cloud

I have cleaned the desktop. The desktop metaphor, which leads my thoughts to a physical work that should be staffed from 9 - 17, five days a week. What I really have done is that I cleaned the screen on my MacBook Pro so that it will have the inviting and appealing surface I need to work on various projects. The metaphor in line well with my past and actually some of my current even though we've long talked about the paperless society. That I still sort of paper files and even files in folders on your computer is also a relic. To bring order to work on the physical desktop, I get enough to live with that continued to sort paper, but in the case files are they now searchable on the computer and I would not really need to spend any time storage. The storage takes care of the timed backup from its preset schedule.

It is difficult to change ingrained behavior. Today's desktop, if anything, it is a portable venue, it is the place that allows my meetings with others, both in terms of work contacts and with my friends. I have become aware that I am now about to move into the cloud, it sounds so liberating. By working with this blog, to be on Facebook and Twitter, I have long taken the step from the desktop and laptop computer to the cloud, but to reflect further on this issue other than how I want to reveal myself and how others behave. But also questions about what I can do and not do. The iPhone family and all application developers have opened opportunities for easy communication in these environments where I am, has gradually made me bolder and freer.

Now I'm working on with the next phase to consciously take the plunge into the cloud with such projects previously been archived in files in the backup and that assumes that I found on a desktop and laptop computer. Several of my new projects will be in the cloud as in my case is in the U.S.A. and all of a sudden I'm back to reality, there is a physical place that can actually go away and cause trouble. But a quick analysis tells me that it might as well be a fire in the apartment and destroy my files, archives and computer to large server systems are knocked out completely.

Recent discussions in the media about the dangers of the Internet, Google, Facebook and our naivete of releasing us on the Internet triggers me to dare to go further than to devote myself to exercise restraint. Get me wrong. Using the Internet is not the same as being irresponsible, but rather calls the new potential of Internet us to take more responsibility, both for our own actions but also for what we see is wrong, that is, we are all responsible for Internet that we use and develop will not be abused. But it means that we must dare to step into the limelight and have a voice in different ways.

Being able to have access to the Internet wherever I am is a prerequisite for my business. The issue has been a practical research project for me since the mid 90's when I, along with Anita Lundin wrote the book Distance Work in the future IT society. Being able to capture thoughts and participate in conversations where I find myself both in the physical meeting of the Internet is a natural way to relate myself to problem solving and business. Only then it is possible to combine all parts of my life into a whole that look and looked different over time. Different communities meet these needs of both professional and relaxation. Also on Facebook is my life about quality.

This is so inspiring as I haven't learned how to work with clouds yet. To work in clouds is to me a new approach - it only entered into my life and thinking two weeks ago... I better read up and learn - fast : ) thinkDo Europe | 18 oct 2010
